So how does an islander celebrate New Years Eve? I can speak only for me. The plan was to go and see the fireworks at Big Ben but later it did not seem so great idea and we skipped it.
The point is that Johnny came over on Friday and stayed here till Tuesday and we could spend together the NYE.
On saturday we went to Natural History Museum but since the queue seemed to be endless and I have seen a placate which advertised Victoria and Albert Museum we went into that one. First of all you need to know that V&A has exhibitions mainly for women. I mean furnitures, dresses, jewelry and antic asian buddha sculptures... I guess its not really what an ordinary man wants to see. But since my love is not ordinary...:) So we went into the museum. To be honest we did not see too much of the exhibitions but I wont go into details why not…I let you to use your imagination.:)
There was a photo exhibition from middle east but for some reason it was not that good as we expected. So we roaming around in the museum and we found some nice furniture with my favorite style. Art Nouveau. I have to say that the British art nouveau doesnt belong to the best of its representers. At least I think so. But still it was really nice to see a Charles Rennie Macintosh chair in live. I just wanted to sit on it but since I have well educated background I did not do it. :) Well I guess there are persons who would associate something completely different based on the Macintosh name:) I do not blame them probably I belong to the minority who associates to chairs instead of that product which famous about apple.
Later we meet up Zsuzsi and her boyfriend John. They visited to London for NYE and I saw a post on FB so I asked her if she wanted to meet. She did:) ANd it was really nice to see her after 2 or 3 years. I worked together with Zsuszi at TCS 4 years ago. And we were in Malmö together. OMG today is exactly the 4th years anniversary that I started working as a patient safety specialist. And that time I thought it would be just temporary...I really should change my life soon. But back to the topic...(I am getting to be like my grandmother who is talking everything without connection loosing point and does it without breathing...)
We spent a nice evening together in a nice pub at convent garden then took a short walk to Chinatown where we separated and both pairs went on their ways. We went to Soho without any plans. And ended up in a nice pub of course.
Impressions about that day:
Walking in Chinatown and in Soho is really amusing. We did not have any maps and idea where to go or what to do so just strolled around that area. Enjoyed the lights and did window shopping. We found many nice little stores which I have missed so far. Now I know where can I buy tasty tea or extraordinary Doc Martens or silly presents to friends. Or where can I eat Beijing duck I mean if I ate meat:) So you can ask me.:)
Neal street is the answer. And Chinatown.
On Monday we visited the rightly famous Camden Town. However it was raining it was still nice and at least there were less tourists than on an ordinary day. I have to say that I have been in Camden many times but I always find something new there. Now I discovered a part of the market where I have never been and we had a late lunch at Camden Lock in small chinese restaurant well it was rather a take away with some seats and despite the rain and mild weather I almost felt myself somewhere in Asia. The little dirty plastic seats and tasty food and chinese persons really gave back something of the magical atmosphere of Asia.
Later we went different pubs. First we went to that gothic pub which was introduced to me 9,5 years ago when I first came to this city and Agota showed us around in camden. Then we checked my favorite place Elephant's head. Still this is the best one in Camden. Its unbeatable. But we checked two other pubs. One is an old-fashioned rock pub and the other is a more popular one called World's end. But we decided to celebrate midnight in Elephant's head. So went back there. And it was the wisest idea. The audience was funny and friendly. I got acquainted with two girls in front of the toilet just like in Budapest than one of them suggested to drink tequila. Somehow the place became a big nice friendly party. Everybody liked everybody and punks and old rockabillies enjoyed each other's company. An old black fellow asked me for dancing and that was madness as well. I have to admit that I cant dance. Especially not rock and roll. But he was so good that I had that feeling that I knew how to dance it. Like in the Matrix movie. Somehow he downloaded the steps into my mind. Later Johnny also made me dancing. So I went home pretty satisfied. I can say this New Years Eve was amazing with my love.
I also could see my brother in the Worlds End. Of course I did not see any ghosts but they played Danzing exactly that song which we heard so many times at Wigwam and I could envision my brother as he was dancing for that song. I am wondering if he is able to listen to good music on the other side. I have that feeling that the answer is no. If we came to this earth to experience joy and sorrow than probably you cant experience these musics because they are produced by human and when we die we are not humans anymore but something else. So hopefully his got better experiences. Does it sound too dark if I say that I would like to see and hear what he can experience now? Or he might have reincarnated already?
Back to the topic...
At midnight someone was singing the national anthem if I remember correctly. But of course this time I could listen to an other nation's anthem not the Hungarian. But it was not strange at all. And just 5 minutes before midnight the bartenders gave trumpets and shiny paper hats to everybody and we did not have to buy them on the street like in Budapest. So these were the small differences.
I have to say that this NYE was madness. And I really enjoyed. Especially the next morning when I could wake up next to that handsome and smart guy whom I love so much.:)
Interestingly I did not make any vows or counted what did or missed during the year. I did not even meditated around NYE. I just felt completely happy.
So I wish a very Happy New Year to all of you and I hope all of you can fulfill your dreams in 2013.
